Deckchair Cinema

Here in Darwin we enjoy a wonderful climate.
Days are always warm without being hot. We have plentiful humidity in the months before and after Christmas. We get lovely cool nights in the middle of the year, when it is a great joy to cuddle under a blanket in the early morning hours. Clear skies mostly. Cooling tropical breezes. Lots to enjoy.

And so we have an outdoor picture theatre. Yes, the Deckchair Cinema. Situated in a pocket of jungle right in the middle if the CBD. Well, geographically in the city centre but psychologically far away. Alongside Lamaroo Beach. Protective cliff on the other side. Sheltered from city noise. Stars. Rainforest. Birds. Breezes. Gardens and soft lawns. In the middle of the city but not of the city.

Usually the price is $15 but because I am now officially a Senior I can get in for $9. Cushions are supplied and help create a relaxed atmosphere. Food and drinks, including alcohol, and even tables and chairs for those who want to chat before the film. An ideal venue for fundraising events. Luckily for me I was given some vouchers to see four films at the Deckchair this season. It's a wonderful night out and I am really looking forward to it. The season has begun!!
